On Monday the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported its first cases of mosquito-borne illness of the year. The two travel-related cases of Zika virus are residents of Warren County who traveled to an area north of Venezuela.

Charles W. “Tex” Ritter is retiring this month from Sanderson Farms Board of Directors, effective at the annual shareholders’ meeting to be held at the corporate office. He has served 29 years on the board beginning his service in 1988.
Kosciusko High School has named its new head football coach; dipping into Bolivar county with the hire of Cleveland High School’s Kelly Causey. The hiring was approved during Thursday night’s special called meeting of the Kosciusko Board of Trustees.
