The Ethel Tigers lost at Nanih Waiya last Tuesday 3-2 with the final outcome at the plate in the top of the seventh inning and then fell to Canton Academy at home 12-10 in nine innings. Both losses pushed the Tigers’ record to 4-4 overall on the season.
The Ethel Lady Tigers crushed West Lowndes last Thursday 16-0 in a three-inning contest. Shelby Lindsay got the start for the Lady Tigers and threw just 49 pitches, allowing no hits while striking out five hitters and walking one.
The Ethel Lady Tigers opened their season on Saturday and lost both contests. Yazoo County dropped the Lady Tigers 4-1 and Riverside grabbed the win 7-5. Kambrie Hodges got the start for the Lady Tigers and pitched two innings, allowing two runs on four walks.
The Kosciusko Whippets opened the season with resounding wins over Winona and Yazoo County, winning both games in six innings by scores of 12-2 and 13-0. The Ethel Tigers handled business in much the same way by sweeping Greenville St. Joe 12-2 and 10-2.
The McAdams Lady Bulldogs defeated West Lowndes last Friday night 61-49 and advanced to play Ashland in the Class 1A quarterfinals on Wednesday at the Mississippi Coliseum. The Lady Bulldogs pushed their record to 23-5 with the win over West Lowndes.
