Residents disagree with zoning request

A request by a Jackson-based health agency to take over a home on Jefferson Street brought out several neighbors who were against the possible rezoning of the home.

Wilder-Griffin

Cierra Vontrice Wilder and Michael Jamal Griffin Jr. are announcing their engagement and plans for marriage.

She is the daughter of Marcus Cole and Brenda Wilder of Sallis, and he is the son of Michael and Carla Griffin of Kosciusko.
The couple will exchange vows on Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. at Delydia Hill M.B. Church. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the ceremony and the reception to follow at the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club in Kosciusko.

Halloween special for one reason

As anyone could tell from my columns in recent weeks, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. The candy and scary movies are great, but my main reason for loving the holiday is because the first spawn of James Phillips made his way into the world Halloween 2002.

Sam Swearengen, 66, of Thomastown, an equipment rebuilder, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at Baptist Medical Center-Leake.
