Jim Wood joins Ethel coaching staff
Jim Wood has been hired as the new fast-pitch softball coach at Ethel High School.
Wood, who was head football coach at Weir High School for the past two seasons, will also be an assistant football coach on the staff of EHS head coach Paul Dees and will serve as defensive coordinator.
During his two years as head football coach at Weir, the Lions went 21-5, including a 9-3 mark in 2008.
Wood was hired by the Attala County School Board during a Thursday morning meeting. He replaced Chris Terry who tendered his resignations as softball coach in June.
Carl Hawthorne was also hired as girls high school and junior high school basketball coach at McAdams High School. Hawthorne replaces Kenyon Ross was took a job as boys and girls varsity coach at Durant High School in the spring.
