A 106 year-old Kosciusko business is closing its doors.
Announcement is being made this week of the closing of Jordan Furniture Company, which has been continuously owned and operated by descendants of L.W. Jordan Sr., founder of the business.
The store has been closed this week in preparation for a total liquidation sale and will reopen today (Thursday) at 10 a.m.
The store is owned by Ann and Henry Jordan. Their son, Jackson Jordan, has been associated with the store for the past five years, and David Allen has been an employee since 1997.
Economic conditions were cited as the reason for the store’s closing.
Ann Jordan is involved in the daily operation of the store along with Jordan Art Gallery.
The Gallery will remain in the store’s area which is accessed from Washington Street. She will continue art lessons and displays by area artists.
The office of Attorney Rosalind Jordan, who serves as the public defender for the City of Kosciusko and the County of Attala, will also remain in the building.
The family expressed thanks to the people of Kosciusko, Attala County and the surrounding area for support through the years.
