McAdams hosts Durant tonight in basketball showdown

By Austin Bishop

McADAMS — Round three should be interesting.

At least that's the way McAdams head boys basketball coach Joe Garrett is looking at his team's matchup with visiting Durant tonight.

The McAdams and Durant girls are set to tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys contest.

"I know the game is huge," Garrett said. "We are fighting to get back into first in the district. I hope home-court advantage works for us. I know we tend to shoot better at home."

Garrett also said it was important for his Bulldogs to stay out of foul trouble. In last week's 70-57 road loss to Durant center Jarvis Greer picked up two fouls in the first three minutes of the game and guard Patrick Lewis had to sit down with three fouls in the second quarter.

"That kind of put our chemistry off-balance," Garrett said.

The Bulldogs come into the game at 13-4, while the 14-4 Durant Tigers are leading Region 6-1A and are ranked No. 5 in the state in Class 1A according to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger.

McAdams beat South Leake o Tuesday night, while Durant used a 21-point, six-rebound effort from Cody James to down Edinburg 74-57.

Round four of the battle of the two Class 1A titans could come ion the Region 6-1A tournament that begins on Feb. 9 and will be hosted by McAdams.

McAdams beat Durant 74-68 in the Durant Invitational in December.
