West teen remains behind bars after shooting
A West teen is in the Holmes County Jail after fatally shooting one brother and injuring another. Malcolm Sandifer, 17, has been charged with the murder of Justin Moss, 28, and the aggravated assault Gage Moss, 19, both of Yalobusha County. No bond has been set.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said the shooting happened on Dog Pen Road, just outside of Durant, on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Sandifer was captured days later in Jackson.
March said Sandifer was a “drop-off” man and was selling a pound of marijuana to the pair.
The sheriff said he believes that the drug transaction turned to an attempted robbery and lead to gunfire.
Gage, who sustained injuries to the hand and thigh, has been released from the hospital and is now at home, March said.
