A simple case of the flu has now been diagnosed by local phycisians as swine flu.
An adult male in Attala County has been diagnosed with swine flu, the Mississippi Department of Health reports today.
Symptoms of swine flu in humans are similar to those of seasonal flu, causing fever, respiratory symptoms and body aches.
H1N1 swine flu has contributed to a number of deaths nationwide, principally in those with pre-existing health conditions.
143 Mississippi cases of H1N1 swine flu have been identified since May 15.
Mississippians are advised to continue to exercise protective hygiene to avoid illness.
