Lawrence wins Ward 1 spot

Marvin "Pop" Lawrence was declared the unofficial winner of the Kosciusko Ward 1 alderman election just shortly before 8 p.m. tonight.

Lawrence, a former Attala County sheriff, received 123 of the votes to local business man Jay Price's 61.

He said he planned to continue to serve the people of Ward 1 just has his wife, Martha Kate, had previously done.

The city first woman alderman passed away recently leaving her spot on the board vacant.
