The daughter-in-law of Kosciusko residents Dr. David F. and Marianna Sistrunk, Kim D. Sistrunk, Training and Professional Development Director at North Mississippi State Hospital (NMSH), has been named to the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 Class of 2009. This program pays tribute to up-and-coming businesspeople for their contributions and accomplishments.
Sistrunk began her career with NMSH in 1999 as a psychologist and has served in her current position since 2008. She has previously served as a Clinical Therapist in the Geriatric-Psychiatric Unit of the Aberdeen/Monroe County Hospital and as a Support Therapist at Region III Mental Health Center. Sistrunk holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counselor Education – Community Counseling from Mississippi State University. She is a graduate of the State Executive Development Institute and is currently enrolled in the Certified Public Manager program of the State Personnel Board. A member of NEWMS (New Expectations for Women in Mississippi), she recently completed the Success Skills program.
Sistrunk is an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church. In addition, she was instrumental in assisting in the production of and was a featured story in the documentary “In the Shadow of the Blade,” a national film that paid tribute to helicopter pilots of the Viet Nam War, which aired on Discovery Military. (Her father Leslie Douglas was a helicopter pilot killed in the line of duty during the war.)
NSMH is an acute psychiatric hospital and is a facility of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.
