With the holiday season in full-swing, it always warms my heart to hear of the acts of kindness – especially from such a little girl.
Hyland McDonald, 5, wanted her hair short! Finally, her mother, Karen, complied.
This was a big deal because Hyland had only had her hair trimmed a few times – it was really long.
When all was said and done and Heather Williams at Haircare 2000 cut her golden locks – it measured 11 inches.
Both Hyland and Karen agreed the hair should not go to waste but it should be donated to Locks of Love. The requirement is that the hair has to be at least 10 inches long to make wigs for cancer patients.
Karen said they dedicated the donation in honor of her friend, Cody Alexander Aaron, who died of Hodgkin’s Disease on March 25, 2002.
I am extremely proud of Hyland and I am sure that her father, Stewart, siblings Baylee and Case, and grand parents, Ed and Gail McDonald and Steve Newman and Donna Williams are equally proud.
Giving thanks
Sunday night, religious denominations of all kinds attended the Community Thanksgiving Service at the Kosciusko High School Commons.
While introducing, the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Rev. Don McCoy, pastor, said it was good to see all the different religions and races coming together to worship.
He said that he imagines this will be what Heaven will be like and if you don’t believe it – then get over it.
I believe it too Rev. McCoy. I truly do!
A great service that raised $900 for the LEAP Center, Oprah Winfrey Boys & Girls Club and Helping Hands.
