Employer deadline for job fair Friday

KOSCIUSKO — Businesses and industries wanting to be part of the Mid-Mississippi Job Fair have until Friday to reserve their booth.

For the third year, the Mid-Mississippi Job Fair has been held in February at the Attala County Coliseum. This year is no different as the event is set for Thursday, February 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration fee for the event is $125 and there is an additional fee for electricity and a discounted fee for additional booth space.

In 2012, more than 550 job seekers attended the event with 40 employers taking applications.

Other findings at the 2012 job fair were: approximate number of visits to employer’s booths by job seekers, 2,871; number of resumes submitted, 848; number of on-site interviews conducted, 76; number of job offers made the day of the job fair, 146; and projected number of hires from this job fair during the next year, 281.

The fair is part of the Governor’s Job Fair Network.

    The Attala Future Farmers of America Chapter is offering plants for sale which have been grown in the greenhouse at the Kosciusko-Attala Career and Technolgy Center.

    Helping Hands Mother’s Day luncheon fundraiser will be held May 10, 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Williamsville Baptist Church. Tickets are $10. There will be second time around jewelry, devotional books, purses and a silent auction.
