Long Creek Elementary School blood drive Wednesday

The well-being of many Mississippians depends on the generosity of people they don’t even know—volunteer blood donors. Hospital patients suffering from trauma, chronic illnesses or needing surgeries often need blood and blood products to see them through. Mississippi Blood Services’ (MBS) mission is to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply to its hospitals so that patients will have blood when they need it.

Long Creek Elementary School will be holding a blood drive on Wednesday, September 2. The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Mississippi Blood Services will have a donor coach in the parking lot. All donors will receive a T-shirt. The blood drive will be located at 9534 Highway 429, Sallis, MS.

“Donating blood will give someone else the gift of life,” said Tony Bahou, MBS communications and public relations manager. “Donating blood on regular basis ensures blood will be there when somebody needs it.”

All donors must be at least 17-years-old (16 with signed parental consent form; go to www.msblood.com to print a copy of the form), weigh at least 110 pounds and have a valid ID.

MBS offers a “mini physical” before each donation to ensure the donation process is safe for the donor as well as the recipient.

MBS ensures that donating blood is SAFE, SIMPLE and SAVES LIVES. For more information, contact (888) 90-BLOOD (902-5663) or visit our Web site at www.msblood.com.
