KOSCIUSKO —
The Mississippi State Department of Health is offering free adolescent immunizations for those 11 through 18 years of age at all county health departments during the last two weeks of June 18-29.
The vaccinations offered during the two-week promotion are Tdap, HPV, and meningococcal.
This year, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccination is required for all children entering the seventh grade. This vaccination has been recommended for all adolescents since 2006.
“We want to provide parents with every possible opportunity to vaccinate their adolescent children,” said MSDH Acting State Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers. “With the new Tdap vaccine requirement for 7th graders this year, we encourage parents to also vaccinate their children against HPV and meningitis. These are recommended adolescent vaccinations that can be given at the same time as the Tdap vaccination.”
Mississippians can visit any county health department during its regular working hours for vaccinations. Please contact your county health department for hours and availability.
