KOSCIUSKO —
A book review and poster contest were held in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration involving students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 grade in Attala County Schools.
Students were asked to read a book about Dr. King and share their knowledge by creating a poster, writing a four-stanza poem or writing a 500-word essay.
Brent Newell, a senior at McAdams High School, was chosen as the winner of a $500 college scholarship for his essay. He was in attendance at the MLK birthday celebration and read his winning essay.

In the 4th and 5th grade, Mikhayla Vaughn, Kosciusko Upper Elementary, first place, digital video camcorder/camera, DeMarcus Seawood, Long Creek Elementary, second place, CD boom box.
