KOSCIUSKO —

June 17, 1962
The purchase of Attala Memory Gardens, a memorial garden type cemetery, by two Kosciusko business firms was officially announced today. Nowell Funeral Home and Atwood Memorials has purchased the firm from the original owners who will assist in its development. Harold Nowell and Bush Atwood, the co-owners, announced that Elbert (Eddie) Pack will continue as manager with offices at 111 East Washington. They said that development will be carried out as planned by the original owners with construction work on the site to begin immediately. A sign has been erected near the property some 45 acres of land on Highway 35 just south of Kosciusko. The gardens will each contain a central art feature and bronze type markers, with twenty five percent of the purchase price going into an irrevocable perpetual care fund, the owners said.
The Kosciusko area is being checked by a garment manufacturing firm to find  the number of experienced female workers who reside in and immediately around Attala County. Satisfactory returns from the survey could result in the location of a garment plant in the county Industrial Development Corporation Pres. F. O. Oliver said this week.
Mayor Emmett Carr, on behalf of the City of Kosciusko, is issuing a plea to the citizens for their cooperation on two vital issues. He asks that everyone pitch in and do their part in making “Help Keep Our City Beautiful” a year round project. Stressing the danger to children who race into the fog truck, the mayor urged that all parents take steps to see that their children stay clear until the truck and fog have passed. He also urges all traffic to proceed with caution when operating in the vicinity where the spray machine is in operation.
