KOSCIUSKO —
On Saturday, February 9, the Kosciusko Junior Auxiliary held their annual charity ball at the Attala County Coliseum. The theme for this year’s ball was Ooh La La Paris.
President Hollee Casey started the evening by welcoming the crowd and reciting the JA Prayer. President Casey presented Sukie Philyaw with the 2013 Kosciusko Junior Auxiliary Servanthood Award.
After the welcome, President Casey handed the podium over to the emcee of the night, Mrs. Erin Cox. This year’s charity ball marked the 40th year anniversary of Kosciusko Junior Auxiliary.
All of the past KJA kings and queens were recognized by walking down the red carpet and being presented on stage. Then, the Royal Court was announced starting with this year’s Pages and Princesses followed by the Children of the Court and on to the crowning of the 2013-2014 king and queen. At the end of the ceremony of the Royal Court, President Casey and Mr. Gene Richardson, KJA 2012-2013 King, presented a plaque to the 2013-2014 King, Mr. Roy Sims, and a crown to the 2013-2014 Queen, Mrs. Peggy Sims.
Throughout the night there was a Silent Auction and a Draw Down. Following dinner provided by Steve Sizemore, musical entertainment was presented by Leith Loftin.
This year’s event was a huge success grossing $42,504 in donations. The $42,504 will go directly toward helping hundreds of children and the less fortunate in Kosciusko and Attala County through various local projects that the Junior Auxiliary supports.
