You never get too old to play is a thought that comes frequently to the mind of Jerry Edwards as he makes an adjustment to his train set which is displayed at Doty’s Furniture, his place of employment. And, he feels fortunate that he has been able to take his hobby to work.

Hummingbird program attracts a crowd
“Here They Come: Attracting Hummingbirds to Your Garden” brought a large crowd to a recent program at the Attala County Library.

March 21, 1963
Sheriff W.T. Wasson and Deputy Billy Horne found a 38-barrel still in the woods in southeastern part of the county. It was estimated that the equipment was worth some $2,000. The bootleggers were caught before they could make a run of whiskey and the whole operation will be a dead loss to them. Still was capable of producing an estimated 20 gallons per hour or of producing $60 of revenue per hour. -
Cute as a Button: Buttons and Bows Pageant held at Greenlee Elementary
On February 2, the Ethel High School Beta Club held the annual Buttons and Bows Pageant in the Greenlee gymnasium. Winners can be seen in the photos attached.

Smiling Faces: Central Holmes Christian School holds Beauty Review
The annual Central Holmes Christian School Beauty and Beau Review was held on February 23 at 7 p.m. in Berman Gymnasium. Coordinator for the event was Natalie McLellan and emcee was Marisa Atkinson. A total of 55 students participated in the pageant.

Breakfast was served to 32 members of the KH/s Distributive Education Club and their bosses Wednesday morning, a switch in the customary annual banquet that has been held on previous years. Leon Fulgham, coordinator, and Bo Reed, Principal of KHS, were special guests. Club officers heading up the students who work and go to school are AT. Dismuke, president, employed by Potts Motor Co.; Cecil Bryant, vice president, and Bill Clubb, treasurer, both employed by the Star Printing Co.; Fay Holmes, secretary, employed at Patterson Jewelers; Peggy Eubanks, reporter, employed by The Star-Herald. -
Beauties on parade: Annual beauty review held as fundraiser for KJHS cheerleaders
On Saturday, February 2, 2013, the Kosciusko Junior High Cheerleaders hosted the “2013 Beauty Review” which was held at the KJHS Auditorium.

The seniors of Ethel High School will present their annual play “Betty Jane from Punkin Lane” at 7:30 p.m. March 8 in the school auditorium. Members of the cast are Johnny Adams, Tenna Frazier, Tene Jones, Fred Brown, Phyllis Hunt, Jaynie Prevost, Lamar McDaniel, Anita Thompson, Gloria Kyle, Morris May, Jimmy Hodge, and Ann Hunt. -

Game of all games, as far as about 800 elementary school youngsters of Kosciusko are concerned, will be the championship basketball match at the Whippet gym between East Side and West Side Elementary School teams. Coaching the West Siders is Jerry Sawyer, while coaching the East Siders is Perry Owen. Tickets for Tuesday night’s play will be 25 cents and 50 cents. -
