Best interest of the county schools should be top priority of school board members

KOSCIUSKO — I would like to voice my opinion over the recent arguments at Attala County School Board Meetings.

I’m a 1978 graduate of Ethel High School and moved away from Attala County about 23 years ago.

I was very disturbed when I read of arguing over what Ethel High School has and McAdams High School does not have or vice-versa.

To be honest neither high school has ever had a decent field house.

Even back when I was participating in sports at Ethel, the dressing room was a converted classroom with no showers. The football field lighting was adequate at best for both campuses.

Likewise the facilities at McAdams were just as poor and out dated. Both high school gymnasiums were also very old with cramped dressing rooms and bathroom facilities for the fans both home and visitors were outdated as well.

Yes, two new gyms have been built, and as most people have said,”It’s about time.I understand in some ways Mr. Mack Clark’s dilemma to a point that McAdams does not have what Ethel has.

I respect his opinion, however, he is a school board representative. He should agree on what’s best for ALL Attala County schools.

Once again, this is my opinion and does not reflect any personal feelings toward past and present board members.

Sincerely,

Calvin “Rascal” Smith

Texas

  • Prayer for the return of sanity

Time and money, Mississippi seems to have it to blow.  Since our state has been taken over by Tea Party Republicans nothing has been done in this state to improve the economy.  These people have spent our time and our money on issues that are not within the realm of our state government.
