Care at MJMH Senior Care was great

KOSCIUSKO — Recently, I had what can be described as a “melt down.”

I have severe COPD and the sudden change in the weather and my air conditioner not working properly threw me into a panic attack and respitory distress. It being Sunday, I called the doctor on call, Dr. Timothy Alford.

He asked if I could get myself together enough to call the ambulance and I assured him I could.

I called my friend, Margaret Mahnke, and she came right over, called the ambulance and stayed with me until they arrived.

I want to thank all of these people, Dr. Alford, Margaret and the ambulance crew. But, most of all I want to thank the staff at the Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital’s Senior Care Unit.

I have tried to think of a good description of the facility and staff and the one thing I keep thinking of is what my son said when I told him about my two-week stay.

He said, “Wow, Momma, you sound like you just came in from a cruise!”

That pretty well sums it up.

The care was excellent, thanks to Dr. Rick Nenneu and the nursing supervisor, Kay Gibson.

The food was good and served hot – a big improvement from a year ago when I was there for 10 days.

Our social worker, Jennifer Lubiani kept us going with lots of activities. She is a sweetheart. Dr. Rick and Kay’s group therapy was good for the soul.

The baths in a walk in tub were wonderful. I would like to list all the staff’s names, but for fear of overlooking someone, I will just say “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me to heal, physically and mentally.

Thanks expressed for support of Burchfield benefit

My buddy and I, of 20-plus years of fishing, were returning from a fishing trip in Louisiana. Fishing was grand! It was my turn to pay for fuel.

Prayer for the return of sanity
Time and money, Mississippi seems to have it to blow. Since our state has been taken over by Tea Party Republicans nothing has been done in this state to improve the economy. These people have spent our time and our money on issues that are not within the realm of our state government.

To the customers, stockholders of M&F
In 1890 a group of investors saw the necessity for a bank to meet the needs of the people and businesses of Kosciusko and Attala County. Merchants and Farmers Bank was thus established and for 123 years it has met those needs. The Kosciusko School District has been known for its success academically and on the athletic field, but this past week, the students at Kosciusko School District proved they had something greater than intelligence and athletic ablitity.

Thanks for C.A.R.E.ing
On behalf of the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club, I would like to thank everyone who made the sixth annual C.A.R.E..(Children Are the Reason for Excellence) Banquet a success! We have an extremely hard-working and dedicated board and along with our capable staff and talented club members the evening was enjoyed by over 300 people.
