KOSCIUSKO —
The Board of Directors of the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls' Club would like to thank all who participated in and sponsored our recent 5th Anniversary CARE Banquet.
The evening included entertainment by A Touch of Harmony from Tupelo and mistress of ceremonies Sunya Walls of WTVA. Reflections on the Club's establishment were offered by Paul Powers, William Lloyd, and Katharine Carr Esters while current Club member Sonya Floyd and Club graduate Kim Jackson discussed the impact the Club has on the lives of young people in our community.
We would like to offer a special word of appreciation to our Platinum Sponsors - Kosciusko Medical Clinic and Servpro along with Gold Sponsors Montfort Jones Hospital, Merchants and Farmers Bank, and Wal-Mart.
Individual tables were sponsored by Kempe Hodges, Boswell Media, Dr. and Mrs. Timothy Alford, Holts' Body Shop, Atwood Fence Company, Ameriprise, Mr. Jerry Redmond, Thornton Electric, Tyler King and Ryder, Myricks, Estes Plumbing, Alcorn State Alumni, Kosciusko Water and Light, First Baptist MB Church, Traveler's Rest Church, MLK Committee, NCNW, Mr. Charles Hull, NAACP, Christian Liberty Church, Maudie Benton, and Attala Nursing Center.
Citizens National Bank and The Star-Herald for their continued support of the event.
Darren Milner of M&F Bank, William Crosby and David Crosby of N Focus Video Productions developed an excellent video featuring the Club. A highlight of the evening was a surprise video message from Ms. Oprah Winfrey offering congratulations on achieving five years of successful operation.
Board members Willie Alice "Pie" Kern and William Lloyd were honored for their years of service. Club Keystone members assisted with serving the meal provided by Wanda's Catering and Natchez Trace Gardens provided the beautiful table decorations.
It was a great evening enjoyed by nearly 300 community supporters of our Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club.
Plans are already underway for next year's CARE banquet on Thursday, September 20, 2012 so save the date!
Again, thanks to all who support the programs of our Club.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors, OWBGC
Charles Hull, President

Prayer for the return of sanity
Time and money, Mississippi seems to have it to blow. Since our state has been taken over by Tea Party Republicans nothing has been done in this state to improve the economy. These people have spent our time and our money on issues that are not within the realm of our state government.

To the customers, stockholders of M&F
In 1890 a group of investors saw the necessity for a bank to meet the needs of the people and businesses of Kosciusko and Attala County. Merchants and Farmers Bank was thus established and for 123 years it has met those needs. M&F has fostered a culture of community and caring, always putting people and their needs ahead of corporate gains.
