KOSCIUSKO —
Our family would like to take this opportunity to thank all our friends and church members. My husband was in the house alone when the tornado struck our home.
He was convalescing from knee surgery and could not go anywhere.
Within an hour’s time, one of our deacons had taken a power saw and cut his way in enough to check on my husband.
One of our friends in the West community was here by the middle of the day to remove trees off our house and clear our walkways. Some members of our church just dropped by to check on us. Our neighbor down the road fixed the shingles on our little house and made sure that I could handle the bad weather on the way once again.
We didn’t call names, so that there would be no danger of leaving any of the folks that have been such a support through this time when our community came together in the way that only people who care can do.
We know that we have been blessed in so many ways. We had no loss of life and only minor property losses. Mississippi catches a lot of criticism but no one can touch the compassion shown in this state through Katrina, floods, and now storms by the precious caring people that go to work to help each other in times of need.
This is a letter of thanks and love to all involved. Our community and state can honestly say “when it gets tough, the tough get going.” May God bless and keep you all.
We hope this spirit of community will always be a part of Mississippi.
It makes our citizens Heroes.
Sincerely,
Roy and Denise Storey

Take pause and pray on Square Sunday
Normally, I keep my faith to myself. I am not given to public displays of my faith. However, Attala County has had one heck of a year thus far. I think it is time for us to take a pause as a community.
