Plea deal: Mallette gets 30 years on drug charge

KOSCIUSKO — Thirty years of jail time was the sentence for Kelly Mallette in Attala County Circuit Court during proceedings held last week in the courthouse.

Mallette, who was arrested in February at his home on Attala County Road 4173, pleaded guilty to sale of cocaine with all other charges dismissed.

He was originally charged with three counts of sale of cocaine, a count of sale of marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and habitual offender.

Nine crack rocks, 13 ounces of marijuana, 1/2 ounce of powdered cocaine, scales and two handguns were confiscated in the raid.



In a separate case

Aaron Eugene Ferguson was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role a rash of burglaries in Attala County. Items taken were primarily tools and machinery during the May break-ins. Several other burglaries occurred in Leake County. Two of the four counts of burglary were dismissed.



In other plea deals

– Roderick Markie Kirkwood was granted non-adjudicated status for two counts of burglary of building other than a dwelling. Non-adjudication is the process of allowing a first-time, nonviolent defendant to complete certain conditions and avoid a conviction on their record.

– Aaron Head will serve 10 years on possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Armed robbery and habitual offender charges were dismissed.

– Jerome “Juke” Gentry was sentenced to seven years with four years post-release supervision on burglary of a dwelling. He will also pay $500 and restitution.

– Quentin Mosely will serve three years with five probation on the charge of touching for lustful purposes. His charge was downgraded from sexual battery.

– Malcolm Gentry pleaded guilty to the charge of burglary of a building and will serve seven years with five years post-release supervision.

– Dexter J. Gamin will serve five years probation and pay restitution on a grand larceny charge.

– Kimberly Reyes was granted non-adjudicated status on food stamp fraud.

– Jennifer Lee Hoffman was sentenced to five years probation for malicious mischief and a $500 fine.

– Timothy Humphrey was granted non-adjudicated status on one count of burglary with three counts of burglary being dismissed.
