Dees named Star-Herald’s managing editor

After serving as news editor of The Star-Herald in Kosciusko for two years, Leslie N. Dees has been promoted to managing editor.

Dees will oversee the editorial content and production of the weekly newspaper. She will continue to report the news and all that entails.

“It was a natural promotion for Leslie. She has been in several different areas in the newspaper business and is always full of ideas,” Star-Herald General Manager Cindi Compton said. “She has done a great job for us as news editor and I expect her to continue to do great things at the newspaper.”

A graduate of Mississippi State University, Dees has worked at both daily and weekly newspapers with stops at The Magee Courier/Simpson County News as a staff writer, The Commercial Dispatch as lifestyles editor and wire editor and The Pontotoc Progress as a part-time page and ad designer.

“I enjoy my job and hope to continue being part of the community,” Dees said. “Kosciusko has now become a place that I can call my home.”

The editorial staff will remain the same with Nancy Green serving as people and events editor and Austin Bishop as sports editor.

Dees, a Rolling Fork native, moved to Kosciusko with her husband, Paul, who is the head football coach at Ethel High School and an Attala County native.
