KOSCIUSKO —
Glenn Stevens, who was chosen to be the assistant principal at Kosciusko Junior High School come August, has been hired as the principal at Noxapater High School.
Kosciusko City School Superintendent Tony McGee said Stevens would do a fine job and wished him well in his new job.
Stevens had been at Kosciusko High School for approximately eight years serving as assistant principal.
The Kosciusko City School Board voted to replace Stevens with Shane Rodgers at a special called meeting on Monday.
Rodgers will be giving up his assistant football coaching position and his position as tennis coach.
The board hired veteran coach Donald Rogers from Noxapater to fill the assistant football coach position and Chris Richmond will assume the tennis coach position.
During the special meeting the board approved the coming school year budget and increase in pay to Suzanne Crosby to reflect her master’s degree.
During the July 8 meeting, the board approved the following:
–Minutes from July 14
–Special Education Budget for the upcoming school year.
–Payment to Jackie McElwain, Jana Guillotte, and William Atkinson for credit recovery at Kosciusko High School.
– Meryl Allen as a special education teacher for the upcoming year at Kosciusko Junior High and Alternative School.
–Chris Herron as a teacher assistant at the Alternative School, assistant football coach and assistant baseball coach for the upcoming school year.
–Paul Tanksley as a study hall aide at KHS, Erin Cox as an assistant teacher at Kosciusko Middle Elementary and Kayla Sanders for bus supplement on special education bus.
– Francis Williams as a cafeteria worker for the upcoming school year.
–Food service substitutes for the upcoming school year.
–Adam Weaver as a student in KCS. He was released from Attala County Schools and will pay tuition.
–Repair of the Kosciusko Lower Elementary parking lot.
–Purchase of a school bus.
–Food Service Procurement Plan for the coming school year.
– LuVel Dairy Products for milk and ice cream, American Coated Products for Ink and Masters, Fuelman state contract price for gasoline and diesel for the coming school year.
–Reject bid from Dickerson Petroleum for oil and etc.
–Request permission to pay utility bills, officials, fuelman invoices and any bills budgeted that have a due date before the next board meeting.

–Interfuld loans and fund transfer
–16th Section revenue from Attala County School District
–Disposing of financial records
–Travel for KHS and KJHS football and slow-pitch softball for the school year.
–Athletic Department at KHS and KJHS to attend the MAC Multi-sports clinic in Ridgeland on July 14-16.
–Temporary easement and agreement between Robin Jones and Johnny Guess and the Attala County Board of Supervisors.

KLE students sing ‘Smoke Free Me’ with Ott
Students from Kosciusko Lower Elementary will soon be hitting the radio airwaves with SmokeFree Mississippi spokesperson and radio/TV personality Paul Ott.
They recorded, along with several students from the Jackson-area, at the SmokeFree Mississippi press conference at the State Capitol on Jan. 25 in Jackson. The song, “Smoke Free Me,” talks of the pitfalls of second-hand smoke and its effects. -

Planning: Supes, HCC prez discuss next steps
The steps to get the ball rolling on the renovation of the former Milwaukee Electric Tool Building for Holmes Community College’s new location in Attala County was discussed with the Attala County Board of Supervisors and HCC President Glenn Boyce during the supervisors' work session on Monday morning. An update on Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital expansion and renovation was also given by MJMH Administrator John Dawson.

Adoption for Traci and Lori and circumstances of their siblings prevented them from knowing about each other. There was a void in their lives.
