Landowner looking to purchase portion of industrial park
The Kosciusko Mayor and Board of Aldermen agreed to look into selling a portion of the Mid-Mississippi Eco-Plex (industrial park) on Highway 19 during the July 21 meeting.
Mayor Jimmy Cockroft said an adjoining land owner is interested in a section of the land.
The board voted to talking with Economic Development Authority to see about selling the land.
The board also approved of the proposed Kosciusko Schools budget at the July 21 meeting.
Superintendent Tony McGee said the school district is asking for $47,876 less in valorem taxes than last year.
RSVP’s budgeted funds of $16,683 were approved in the form of a resolution.
The Kosciusko Police Department is looking for an officer with the vacancy of Hugh Curry. Curry resigned from his post to take on the position of deputy at the Attala County Sheriff’s Department.
The board approved to advertise for the vacant position.
The board approved the following:
–To continue to work with the Delken Group under its new name, Blue Ox, LLC.
–Funding for the airport agreement.
–Claims docket
–End Dusty Wright’s employment with the Kosciusko Fire Department.
The board also worked on the budget and continued to work on the budget on Tuesday.
