KOSCIUSKO —
Following a public hearing Monday afternoon on the proposed Kosciusko School District budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year, the board set July 25 for a meeting at noon to adopt the proposed $18,152,169 budget with no increase in taxes.
In personnel matters at the Monday meeting resignations were accepted from Michael Dean and Angel Hibbler. Olivia Smith was hired as a teacher at Middle Elementary, Amanda Medine for Special Education and Mandy Burrell for high school. Substitute teachers were approved. Robert Simpson, Jim Thornhill and Betty Bermond were named bus drivers.
In student matters, the release of Gary Grissom to attend Choctaw Central was granted.
With beginning of classes in August, students will pay an additional 25 cents for lunch with prices increasing from $2.25 to $2.50 after the board gave its approval.
Due to unfavorable market conditions, the board voted to extended for three months the 16-15-7 logging contract.
The following consent agenda was approved. Claims docket; approve financial report for May 2012; request permission to delete and dispose of items from inventory and remove from general ledger and dispose of according to MS Code;
Approve division of 16th Section revenue with Attala County School district for the 2011-2012 school year; approve inter fund loans for the 2011-2012 fiscal year; approve fund transfer for the 2011-2012 fiscal year; request permission to delete and dispose of school records for the 05-06 year; request permission for administrators and coaches to attend the annual MHSAA district meeting in Louisville on August 1; request permission for all coaches to attend the MS Association of Coaches Clinic in Jackson; request permission for travel for football and slow pitch softball games for 2012-2013 school year; request permission for travel for Big Red Band for the 2012-2013 school year; approve temporary easement and agreement between W.J. Swinney and Virginia Swinney and the Attala County Board of Supervisors.

Cyclists gathered in Downtown Kosciusko May 15 to take part in the National Ride of Silence. The mission of the world wide ride is to honor bicyclists killed by motorists, promote sharing the road, and provide awareness of bicycling safety.

Kosciusko City Schools fill remaining slots for upcoming year
Kosciusko City Schools Superintendent Dr. Tony McGee said that he felt the staff for the upcoming school year was set following approval of hires Monday night at the school board meeting.
