KOSCIUSKO —

MedStat Emergency Medical Services has added MedStatAir, a Euro Copter 350HS, to its fleet to provide increased service to the area.

Officials of MedStat brought the helicopter to Kosciusko last Saturday for display and to instruct first responders in its use.

Barry Eskridge of Winona, chief executive officer of MedStat, said there is a statewide effort underway to provide faster transport service.

The helicopter landed on Kosciusko High School football practice field adjacent to the Attala County Coliseum Saturday morning where first responders, medical and emergency personnel met for training in the services provided by the helicopter.

Robbie Welch is the pilot with Sarah DuBard, flight paramedic, and Christine Prunera, flight nurse. Mark Galtelli, flight director, explained how a patient is loaded into the copter, the equipment used on board, and invited participants to inspect the interior.

Timothy Wade, operations manager with MedStat, also assisted in the training session.

With the addition of the copter, Eskridge said a victim can be airlifted from the scene of an accident without having to first be transported to a medical facility.
