KOSCIUSKO —
A meeting of the Attala County Tax Assessor and Collector Kempe Hodges and the Attala County Board of Supervisors was expected Wednesday morning to discuss Hodges’ budget.
At the Monday supervisors’ meeting, a budget increase was requested due to an additional employee into Hodges’ office in order to make payroll this month.
“I think Kempe needs to come in,” District 3 Supervisor Troy Hodges said. “I don’t know why they hired someone.”
Last year, a position was vacated in tax assessor/collector’s office and the work load along with the salary was divided among the remaining employees.
“One employee left and they said they could handle the work and they split that money among the others,” board attorney Scott Pickle said.
The tax assessor/collector’s office was given an additional $3,000 for March.
More funds were put into the Central Construction fund but the supervisors agreed that discussions on the work load of the department were also needed on Wednesday. Approximately $25,000 was put in the construction account.
The board approved the following:
–School bus-turnaround for Margaret Nash in District 4.
–Office of Surplus Property Application updated to include heads of emergency and law enforcement.
–Copy machine lease for Justice Court from Mid-South Copier System.
–Void tax sale for Quentin Martin and Odie Wytch
No action was taken on the 16th Section hunting and fishing leases. According to board attorney Scott Pickle, the supervisors are not required to sign off on the hunting and fishing leases.
–Equipment is being sent to Thomas Auction for sale.
