Kosciusko Lions Club food baskets help those in need

KOSCIUSKO — In the season of giving, the Kosciusko Lions Club along with volunteers from the Kosciusko Mayor’s Youth Council began assembling the 240 food baskets for needy families in Kosciusko and Attala County.

For more than 30 years, locals’ monetary donations and students’ canned food collections have made the project a success.

The nearly filled banana boxes of canned goods, flour and other non-perishable items at the Attala County Coliseum will be topped off with perishable items on Wednesday morning prior to delivery.

Tuesday morning, Kosciusko Lions, along with Santa Claus and strolling musicians, visited with residents of the Attala Nursing Center and Atwood Personal Care Home. Residents were given slipper socks.
