KOSCIUSKO —
Changes to the dress code were discussed and approved at the Attala County School Board meeting June 26.
Students grades seventh through 12th grade will be able to wear shorts to school in August.
Shorts should not be tight, revealing, see-through and must touch the knee when standing. Skirts should extend to the bend of the knee.
Students will not be able to wear shower shoes but will be allowed to wear dressier flip flops.
Ripped clothing that shows undergarments will not be tolerated and tops worn must cover both shoulders.
All seen cell phones will be confiscated and held for 45 days. A $25 fee will be charged.
Several policies were also adopted as well as a teacher handbook with dress code and rules of conduct.
The board approved the following:
–Minutes from the June 4 meeting
–Bid for uniforms from City Uniforms and bid for mops and rugs from First Class Linens.
–Bid from Fair Propane for propane.
–Donation of 180 student desks to Greenlee Elementary from the Greenlee Parent Teacher Organization.
–Claims and Financials
–Purchase of kindergarten through second grade assessment software to be paid by Federal Programs funds.
–Child nutrition procurement plan, lunchroom handbook and price list.
–Hire Kayla Dillinger as junior high math teacher, Julie Harmon as an English teacher and Terry StewartAvent as cafeteria manager, all at Ethel High School.
–Resignation of Ras Bayles as a teacher at McAdams.
–Substitute list for vo-tech, Greenlee, Ethel and Long Creek.
–Emergency certificate for Jan Hutchinson in gifted.
– Hire Mark Burton as the board attorney.
–Tentative Special Education project application for the coming school year.
–Accepted out-of-district employee’s children.
–Custodian salary scale.
–Change the name of the Kosciusko-Attala Vocational Center to the Kosciusko-Attala Career and Technology Center.
