KOSCIUSKO —
A two-month investigation led to the arrest of an Attala County man Sunday evening by the Attala County Sheriff’s Department.
Attala County Sheriff Tim Nail said Travis Fitts Jr., 39, was charged with sale of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Nail said Fitts was found to have the purest form of methamphetamine – ice – at Riverside Trailers on Highway 35 South.
The potent form of meth, ice, is used by placing the substance in a glass pipe, heating it, and inhaling the resulting vapors, according to Internet research.
The vapors enter the bloodstream directly through the lungs and are rapidly transported to the brain.
Nail said the drug is highly addictive and can cause a great deal of physical damage.
Two vehicles, and $2,300 were confiscated during the bust. Nail said several other substances were removed during the bust and have been sent to the lab for analysis.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be pending.
As of Monday afternoon, Fitts was behind bars at the Attala County Jail with bond being set at $50,000.
The Kosciusko Police Department K-9 Unit and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics assisted the sheriff’s department.
