Kosy Board adopts policy on public records

By Leslie N. Dees

The Kosciusko Mayor and Board of Aldermen adopted a new public records policy at the Tuesday, March 2, meeting.

The two-page policy includes the public records request form followed by an additional page of information.

City Clerk Hart Pettit and city attorney George Dorrill presented board members with Rankin County’s version.

After some discussion the board agreed to charge $15 an hour as a labor charge, which includes researching, locating, compiling, editing and processing the information. There will also be a charge of 15-cents per photocopy, $5 per facsimile for the first page and $1 for each additional page with a maximum of 20 pages.

The city will have 14 days to respond to the records request.

Public records include such documents as arrest records, meeting minutes and permits.
