Public hearing extended, another dismissed

Luther Bell will have until June 1 before he has to come back before the Kosciusko Mayor and Board of Aldermen about his 2nd Ave. property.

Bell told the board on Tuesday, March 2, he plans on renovating the home from the inside out but the weather conditions have slowed things down.

The board dismissed the public hearing for 504 Fairground Street property owned by Niki Toten since the outside debris had been cleaned up.

City equipment to be used at armory

The Kosciusko Mayor and Board of Aldermen approved the use of city equipment to do some dirt work around the National Guard Armory during the meeting Tuesday, March 2.

The board approved the following:

– Repair the Strand Theater roof and several sidewalks in the city. They accepted the lowest bids.

–Hire back five returning parks and recreation summer workers.

–Travel for several police officers for training.

KLE students sing ‘Smoke Free Me’ with Ott
Students from Kosciusko Lower Elementary will soon be hitting the radio airwaves with SmokeFree Mississippi spokesperson and radio/TV personality Paul Ott.
They recorded, along with several students from the Jackson-area, at the SmokeFree Mississippi press conference at the State Capitol on Jan. 25 in Jackson. The song, “Smoke Free Me,” talks of the pitfalls of second-hand smoke and its effects.
