The Kosciusko Mayor and Board of Aldermen rejected the gift property from Dr. Jimmy Bailey at the intersection of Elm and Peachtree Streets during the first meeting of new year January 2.
Mayor Jimmy Cockroft said he didn’t see the property as being of any use to the city.
He added that maybe Central Mississippi Inc. might want the property for future housing projects.
The lowest of annual bids were accepted by the board as well as bids of $9,162 on a zero-turn mower from Ewing Repair Service and a groomer for $2,292 from Team Supplier in Brandon for the Parks and Recreation Department.
Travel for Kosciusko Police Department’s Bobby Land and Brice Cole and for Howard Sharkey for training were approved. A previous travel for Kosciusko Fire Department’s Scott West was also approved.
The minutes from the November 20 meeting were approved and the claims docket before the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting of the aldermen will be January 15 at 5:30 at City Hall.
