Kosciusko City School Board members were given a draft of the drug testing policy by Superintendent Dr. Tony McGee during their meeting February 11.
Students, who participate in extracurricular activities or drive a vehicle on campus, would be randomly selected for a drug test.
McGee hopes to have the policy in place in March or April with testing beginning in August.
He encouraged the board to give feedback to him at the March 4 meeting.
There was also some discussion about using a urine or hair analysis drug test.
A urine test would cost $22-26 while a hair test would be $36-40.
Administrators for the upcoming school year were approved. They are: Jonathan Carnes, Lee Doty, Thomas Brooks, Roger Hill, Shane Rogers, Cassandra Fulton, John Mark Cain, Michelle Nowell, Presley Tate, Jerrelyn Jackson and Dewayne Cade.
