March 8 arrest nets drugs, cash, firearm

KOSCIUSKO — Following a three month investigation, Christopher Stewart, was arrested and charged on March 8 on Attala Road 2247 for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, according to Sheriff Tim Nail.

Seized during the arrest were 14 grams of crystal methamphetamine, one ounce of marijuana, $450 in currency, and one firearm.

Stewart is out of jail on $20,000 bond. Nail said new members of the Reserve Deputy Program and Officer Mark Hill with the Kosciusko Police Department, assisted in the arrest.

Sheriff Nail listed other arrests and reports.

On Sunday, Andrew Wilcox of Durant was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and malicious mischief.

On Saturday, Anthony Wells, 47, was arrested and charged with domestic violence and simple assault.

On Saturday, Guadamus Miller of Sallis reported the theft of a 2003 GMC Yukon at his residence.

On March 1, Demario Young was arrested by Deputy Zelie Shaw and Officer Steven Teague for felony fleeing with a vehicle.

Also reported by Sheriff Nail: Bill Rutledge of Ethel reported items stolen at his residence on March 4. Shaquille Monroe was arrested on grand larceny charges; Jeremy Edwards arrested in Ethel area, also Charles Peters, 33, for hindering prosecution. He was on house arrest and has been returned to the custody of MDOC.

Granger Logging Co. reported the theft of a gas engine, Craftsman grinder, CB radio from the company’s work area on Attala Road 4202 off Youth Center Road.
