KOSCIUSKO —
An investigation into the death of a Leake County woman is ongoing by the Attala County Sheriff's Department.
Annie Marie Cox, 41, was found dead behind the wheel of a GMC Envoy Monday on Attala County Road 1116, Attala County Sheriff Tim Nail, said.
Crime scene tape blocked off the scene and prevented the flow of traffic down the gravel road Monday as Nail, investigators Randy Blakely and Stephen Teaque and coroner Sam Bell prepared to search the SUV and remove her body from the vehicle.
The vehicle had run off the road and into the ditch.
No foul play is expected in this case at this time, Nail said on Monday.
The cause of the death is unknown at this time and the body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
Attala County Fire Department and Med Stat initially responded to the call.

City considers using service to find retailers
With the current economy and the merger of Merchants and Farmers Bank and Renasant Bank, Kosciusko Mayor Jimmy Cockroft presented the idea of hiring a firm to aid in the recruitment of retailers during the board of aldermen meeting at city hall May 7.
