KOSCIUSKO —
The new sign for the former movie house, The Strand, was delivered by Mitchell Signs of Meridian, Friday on North Madison Street and was later placed Saturday by workers.
The sign along with the facade is in the first phase of the project for the City of Kosciusko. The first phase also included a new roof.
Historic Renovations of Yazoo City was awarded the job in February.
In September, the original box office booth from Diane Boutwell-Grey's home in Kosciusko was retrieved and later restored.
Money from the Mississippi Arts Commission grant has paid for a portion of the renovation.
The City of Kosciusko purchased the Strand in June 2007 to restore and renovate the structure into a convention center and museum.
Boutwell-Grey’s parents, Cleo and Lula Mae Boutwell, owned the theater for many years.
