Durant looks into showing events on the web

DURANT — Internet broadcasting of public city events could soon be a reality for Durant. A presentation by Larry White, of Save With Tech, Inc., prompted Aldermen to adopt a new system of getting information out to the public.

"We've already launched a web TV station," said White. "People can see it on channel one."

"We want to broadcast all the city events and the public will be able to see it on their cell phones."

White said school sports and activities could be broadcast as well.

By using an Apple iPad to record events they can simply be uploaded to the channel for convenient viewing.

"It uploads right into that channel, then all you have to do is click on that channel," said White.

White continued that no costs are involved, except the purchase of an iPad, and there would be some training on how to upload.

"The station is already up," said White, "it's wdur.tv. You can pull it up on you cell phones."

White said local businesses are sponsoring the channels.

"We want to use Durant as a model for all the other cities."

Ward 2 Alderman Bo Patterson motioned for White to proceed in the venue and the motion was approved.
