Demarcus Pass and Caylon Johnson scored two touchdowns each to power homestanding Eupora — ranked No. 3 in Class 2A by the Mississippi Prep Sports Source — to a convincing 48-7 win over Weir on Thursday night.
The Eagles, now 2-0 on the season, scored on five of its first six possessions to take control of the game early.
Eupora led 28-0 at the half and the scored on its first possession of the third quarter to pretty much put the game away.
Pass scored on runs of 18 and 1 yards and rushed for 124 yards on 14 carries to lead EHS. George Starks added 86 rushing yards on five carries, while Johnson scored on runs of 18 and 1 yards himself.
Eupora's other touchdowns came on a 38-yard pass from Tre' McCarthy — who hit on 6-of-11 passes for 121 yards — to Steadman Rice, a 3-yard run by third-string quarterback Taylor Marlow and a 44-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Savon Daughtrey.
Weir's only touchdown came on a 9-yard run by Cramer Miller with 6:04 left in the game.
Eupora had 420 yards of total offense in the game, while Weir — ranked No. 2 in 1A by the MPSS — managed just 149, with 53 of that coming on the lone touchdown drive.
Eupora plays host to Winona next week, while Weir will have an open date before visiting Thomastown on Sept. 11.
