Supes approve change order on jail

KOSCIUSKO — The Attala County Supervisors approved a  dirt work change order on the Attala County Jail project at the request of county engineer Christian Gardner Tuesday morning at the Chancery Building.

The amount of dirt will increase from 21,000 cubic yards to 34,000 cubic yards.

The estimated cost of the jail is $3.8 million. The facility will house the Attala County Sheriff’s Department and housing of approximately 65 inmates. The jail would continue to house both county and city prisoners.

Gardner told the supervisors to expect there would be more change orders through the project.

The board approved the following:

–16th Section residential lease for Felix Pearson and Linnie Pearson.

–AT&T construction easement at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital.

–Interlocal agreement between the Attala County Sheriff’s Department and the Natchez Trace Parkway to give ACSD authority to work incidents on the parkway.

–Hire Kelly Mitchell as part-time transportation officer for the ACSD. He will replace David Bain.

–Customer service agreement with Unifirst that will allow District 4 workers to rent uniforms at their own expense.
