KOSCIUSKO —
A rash of burglaries and a drug arrest by the Attala County Sheriff’s Department have made the September term of the Attala County Circuit Court.
Aaron Eugene Ferguson of Leake County has been indicted on multiple counts of burglary. He was arrested on May 11 after a search warrant turned up stolen tools and machinery at Tedrick Clark’s residence in the Little Hill Community.
The first burglary in Attala County was May 1 at Derwood Pettit’s home on Attala County Road 5041, where a Bose radio, saw, welder and drills were taken.
Another burglary occurred on May 9 with items being taken from Terry Hansford’s home on Attala County Road 5061 and the door being kicked in at Ginger Hopkins’ home on Massey Crossing Road but no items were taken.
His trial date has been set for September 6.
The August arrest of Travis Fitts Jr. has led him to be indicted on four counts of the sale of methamphetamine and a count of possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
A two-month investigation led to his arrest at Riverside Trailers on Highway 35 South.
He was found to have the purest form of methamphetamine – ice.
A trial date has been set of September 4.
A Plea Day has been set for Wednesday, August 29, at 10 a.m. for those wishing to enter a guilty plea and not seek trial in the Attala County Courtroom. This could alter the court schedule.
