Miss Mississippi Anna Tadlock will head this year’s Christmas parade serving as its grand marshal as the holiday the season is ushered in at the annual event scheduled Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
Theme for this year’s parade is “The Spirit of Giving.”
The state’s new titleholder is no stranger to Attala County as she visits frequently with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Brunt in McCool. Her parents are Tommy and Felicia Tadlock of Brandon.
Anna is a graduate of Northwest Rankin High School in Brandon and graduated in May summa cum laude 2008 from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication.
While at MSU, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority, Roadrunner Student Recruiters, Baptist Student Union, and Faith Anchors. She was also selected as a 2006 Recruitment Counselor, Secretary of Lambda Sigma Honor society and vice president of programming of Order of Omega.
She is currently a member of the choir at First Baptist Church in Jackson and is a worship leader for Static, a small Bible study group for young singles in the Jackson metro area.
During her reign as Miss Mississippi, Anna’s platform is promoting the importance of music education for children. As a Miss America contestant she will be promoting the Children’s Miracle Network, which is the national platform adopted by the Miss America Organization.
Kosciusko-Attala Development Corp. officials said entry forms for the parade are now being accepted. Categories are: Float; Antique Vehicle; Band, Government; Queen (must furnish vehicle); Motorcycle; Other (horses, walking groups, participating vehicles not being judged).
