Beehive’s auction includes paintings and estate items

KOSCIUSKO — In conjunction with Merry Fall Weekend, annual Beehive Marketplace is being held Friday night and Saturday at The Mary Ricks Thornton Cultural Center. The ninth annual event is sponsored by the Attala Historical Society.

Friday night, Nov. 2, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 3, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. vendors will display and sell their wares in the cultural center.

Jewelry, candles, children’s clothing, specialty foods, paintings, Christmas wreaths, ornaments, and numerous other items will be offered during the scheduled hours on Friday and Saturday.

There will be a country store offering cakes, pies, cookies, jellies, jams, and homemade breads.

Thomas Craft will offer his recently published pictorial book, “From My Collections.”

The silent auction will be held in the Delta Gamma Room of the cultural center.  Among items up for bid will be a handmade clock by Thomas Craft, a cookie jar from the Marlin Ivey estate, silver and jewelry from the Mary Virginia Potts estate, signed sports items from Mississippi State and Ole Miss. There will also be signed prints from Danny Brunt and oil paintings by Offie Thomas, Doris Belk long with other artists. There will be bidding on paintings by Danny Brunt, Dale McLean and Peggy Sims with proceeds going to the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club. Bidding will end at 1 p.m. Saturday.

All proceeds will  benefit the Attala Historical Society and the Mary Ricks Thornton Cultural Center.
