KOSCIUSKO —
Concerned District 2 resident Gerome Garland addressed the Attala County Board of Supervisors at the Monday meeting in the Chancery Building about the increased traffic on Attala County Road 2234.
When the construction was in progress on Highway 43, Garland said the traffic increased on the road and since then it continues to be a heavily traveled roadway.
He suggested to the board that maybe speed bumps should be put on the roadway for the safety of children and others who reside there.
District 2 Supervisor Charles Fancher said there were speed limit signs as well as children at play signs on the road and that installing speed bumps may increase liability risks.
Attala County Sheriff Tim Nail said the sheriff’s department would increase patrols.
Garland was also encouraged to talk to the Kosciusko Police Department about patrolling the roadway since a portion of it is located in the city limits.
Water hook up
Annie Richmond and Doris Davis addressed the supervisors about how they should get a water hookup to the Conahoma Water Association.
Richmond, who has been living off of Munson’s Crossing for several years, was told that it would cost $20,000 to have her residence hooked up to the county water association.
The supervisors said they did not have any authority over the water association and encouraged them to talk with the water association's board at their monthly meeting.

–Claims docket
–Adjustment in the inventory with the addition of car to the Attala County Sheriff’s Department and the removal of a radio from District 3.
–Pay dues to the National Association of Counties in the amount of $408.
–Void tax sale on Loretta Bruce’s 16th Section lease.
–Renew the lease for the mailing machine from Pitney Bowles for the Attala County Circuit Clerk’s office.
–Sheriff’s and Tax Collector’s first quarter budgets.
–Homestead roll corrections.
–Travel for Attala County Emergency Management Director Danny Townsend to attend 911 training October 14-17.

Aisle of Honor: Myers to speak at Memorial Day event

Ride of Silence held in Kosciusko
Cyclists gathered in Downtown Kosciusko May 15 to take part in the National Ride of Silence. The mission of the world wide ride is to honor bicyclists killed by motorists, promote sharing the road, and provide awareness of bicycling safety.
