Welch case delayed
The man charged with six counts of child exploitation won’t have his day in court until the March Circuit Court Term.
Terry Welch, who was set to go to trial Wednesday, was caught in Attala County during a Dateline-like internet operation by a task force through the Attorney General’s office in 2006.
Welch was brought back to Attala County in March after being released from prison in Florida, where he served two years for child exploitation.
He was convicted of trying to set up a sexual encounter with a young girl in Philadelphia and sending child pornography to an undercover officer via e-mail.
The opening day of the September term brought about those entering guilty pleas on Tuesday.
