The first publication of “The Heartbeat of Mississippi: A newcomers & visitors guide to Kosciusko and Attala County” can now be found in the 12 Mississippi Welcome Centers.
The full-color magazine, a joint project of The Star-Herald and Kosciusko-Attala Development Corporation highlights local points of interest for tourists and provide useful information for those moving to the area.
After gaining approval as a “tourist friendly” publication from the Mississippi Development Authority Tourism Department, The KADC shipped 3,750 of the 5,000 copies across the state.
KADC Economic Development Vice President Greg Cooper said 13 magazines were sent to MDA and were thoroughly reviewed and then an acceptance letter was sent out.
Mississippi Visitor Centers are located in Natchez, Corinth, Hernando, Pearlington, Tremont, Toomsuba, Picayune, Magnolia, Vicksburg, Greenville, Moss Point and Lula.
Magazines have also been placed in visitors centers along the Natchez Trace Parkway.
Both the S-H and the KADC would like to thank all that contributed to publication and plans for a second edition are underway.
