Herron has two hits for Valley against USM

The University of Southern Mississippi took a 13-5 baseball win over Mississippi Valley State at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg on Tuesday night.

Former Kosciusko High School standout Chris Herron had a strong outing for Valley, picking up two hits and a walk while batting lead-off and playing left field.

The Delta Devils, now 18-18 on the season, play host to Grambling State at Magnolia Field in Itta Bena on Wednesday at 4 p.m. MVSU is 8-1 at home this season.

Valley hits the road for a key SWAC East Division battle with Jackson State this weekend, facing the Tigers in a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday.
