Funeral services for Cecil B. “Bill” Cummings, 82, of Sallis will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel in Yazoo City.
Visitation is Jan. 3, 9:30-11a.m.
Cummings, a native of Yazoo County, died Dec. 31, 2012 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from the maintenance department of Mississippi Chemical Corp. in Yazoo City. He was a member of Sallis Baptist Church.
Rev. Gene Richardson will officiate.
He is survived by a son, Steven W. (Cathey) Cummings of Sallis; grandson, Steven C. Cummings of Sallis and granddaughter, Cecilia Barnhill of Ethel; two brothers, George W. Cummings Jr. of Yazoo City, David Cummings of Yazoo City; sister, Jane Gordon of Yazoo City.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Cummings, and two sisters, Bettye Manor and Joyce Russell; a brother, Harvey W. Cummings.
Burial will be in Short Creek Cemetery in Yazoo County.
Pallbearers are Bobby Brown, Rand Ainsworth, David Dodd, Brent Busbea, Bill Winstead and Jack Ables.
Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Barnhill, Don Hutchinson, Wayne Bishop, Lynn Cain, Arthur Ables Jr. and Allen Winstead.
